What we treat

Name the thing. Chances are I see it often.

People search for real words, not "imbalances" — so this is a plain list of what I actually help with in Townsville, and which treatment tends to fit. If yours is here, or it isn't and you're not sure, get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Pain & tension

Where hands-on work and needling do their best work together.

Lower back pain

The most common thing through the door — a back that's seized, aching, or flaring after a lift or a long week. We settle the muscle, calm the pain signal, and work out what's setting it off.

A neck or shoulder that won't settle

Desk-locked shoulders, a stiff neck, that knot that keeps coming back. Firm hands-on work, dry needling into the tight bands, and a plan so it stops returning.

Headaches & migraines

Tension headaches, and the migraines that steal a day. Acupuncture is one of the better-studied uses — often paired with releasing the neck and jaw that feed them.

Elbow pain

Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, or a tender point on the elbow that just won't go away. Dry needling into the forearm bands that pull on it, hands-on work around the joint, and a look at what loads it up.

Foot pain

Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, a tender point in the foot, or the slow way back from a ligament strain. Needling and hands-on work through the calf, arch and Achilles.

Scar tissue

Caesarean and surgery scars, knee and hip replacements, and old scar tissue that has gone hard and immobile. Acupuncture, cupping and myofascial work, usually as a course rather than a one-off.

Long-standing pain

Pain that's outstayed its welcome — old injuries, overuse, the kind that's become part of the furniture. Gentle, steady, realistic: I'll tell you honestly what I think we can shift.

Sleep, stress & the mind

Quietening a nervous system that's stuck switched on.

Trouble sleeping

Wired-but-tired, waking at 3am, a mind that won't switch off. Acupuncture is calming almost by design — many people drift off on the table, and sleep is often the first thing to improve.

Anxiety & a racing mind

That low hum of tension in the chest and shoulders. Sessions are quiet and grounding — used alongside your GP or psychologist, never instead of them.

Stress & burnout

Run-down, stretched thin, holding it all in your neck and jaw. A regular reset — part nervous-system calm, part hands-on release — to take the edge off a hard stretch.

Cycles, fertility & pregnancy

Gentle, cycle-aware care that works in with your medical team.

Period pain

Cramping that stops you in your tracks, and cycles that run all over the place. Cycle-timed acupuncture to ease pain and steady things month to month.

PCOS

Support for the symptoms that come with PCOS — irregular cycles, and the flow-on into fertility — alongside the care of your GP or specialist.

Trying to conceive

Gentle, cycle-timed sessions to support you while you're trying — on their own, or alongside IVF and your fertility specialist's plan. This is close to my heart, and a big part of what I do.

Pregnancy aches & pre-birth

Support through pregnancy — the aches, the sleep, and pre-birth preparation, including breech presentation with moxibustion. Careful and gentle throughout.

Mine's not on the list

This isn't everything — it's the things people ask for most. Chinese medicine and remedial massage help with a lot more besides. If you're not sure whether I can help with what you've got, just send a message or call. I'll give you an honest answer, and if it's not my area I'll point you to someone whose it is.
