Acupuncture in Townsville
Fine needles at carefully chosen points to calm an overactive nervous system, ease pain, and help you sleep. Gentle, unhurried, and explained as we go — drift off on the table, or chat, as you feel necessary.
What people come in for
Acupuncture is used for a lot of everyday things — not "imbalances", but the real words people search. If yours is here, or it isn't and you're not sure, get in touch and we'll talk it through.
What it is
One of the oldest, most-studied parts of Chinese medicine.
Very fine needles — about the width of a hair — are placed at specific points to prompt the body to settle: to quieten a wound-up nervous system, dampen pain signals, and nudge things like sleep, digestion and your cycle back toward normal.
I work from a full history and a clear read of what's actually going on. Integrative and holistic, but clinical, not mystical — I'll tell you plainly what I find, what I'd expect, and whether acupuncture is even the right tool for it. No rush, and no overselling.
I work with the body and listen to it. Most people are surprised how little there is to it — you lie down, a few fine needles, and quiet.
What a session's like
Start to finish, so nothing's a surprise.
-
We talk
I take a proper history — what brought you in, your health, your sleep, your stress. The first visit runs a little longer for this.
-
I examine
Pulse, tongue, and the area itself, so the treatment fits you rather than a template.
-
The needles go in
A few fine points — most people barely feel them. Sometimes with a little warmth (moxa) or gentle cupping alongside.
-
Then quiet
You rest with the needles in for twenty to thirty minutes — drift off or chat, as you feel necessary.
-
We finish
I'll tell you what I found, what I'd expect, and whether you need to come back — honestly, with no lock-in packages.
Good to know
Common questions
Does it hurt?
Very little. The needles are about as fine as a hair — nothing like an injection. You might feel a brief dull ache or a spread of warmth at a point; most people are surprised how gentle it is.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're in for and how long it's been there. Something recent might settle in a few visits; a long-standing issue takes a short course. I'll give you an honest estimate after the first visit — no lock-in packages, and I'll tell you if I don't think it's helping.
Can I claim it on private health?
Yes — if your extras cover acupuncture, you can claim a rebate on each session. HICAPS is available, so in most cases you can claim on the spot and only pay the gap.
Is it safe alongside my medication, IVF or pregnancy?
Yes, and it's meant to work in with your medical care, not replace it. I'll always work around your GP's or specialist's plan — this matters especially for fertility, IVF and pregnancy, where sessions are timed to fit what you're already doing.
What should I wear or bring?
Loose, comfortable clothing is ideal. Bring any relevant test results or a referral if you have one — but you don't need a referral to book.
