Pregnancy acupuncture in Townsville
Gentle support through pregnancy — for the aches, the sleep, and pre-birth preparation — including breech presentation with moxibustion. Careful and unhurried, at every stage.
What people come in for
Gentle help for the common aches and strains of pregnancy, and preparation for birth — always alongside your midwife or obstetrician.
What it is
Gentle care, right through.
Acupuncture through pregnancy is gentle, pregnancy-safe treatment for the common complaints of each trimester — back and pelvic ache, sleep, and general tension — using carefully chosen points and a light touch.
What helps changes as the pregnancy goes on, so the sessions change with it.
Early days
Morning sickness and nausea, and settling the stomach, with dietary advice alongside.
Maintenance
Low back pain, and the general aches as your body manages the extra weight and a changing posture.
Pre-birth
A traditional preparation for labour in the final weeks, done alongside your midwife or obstetrician's care.
Induction
After 40 weeks, sometimes with electro acupuncture. It does not replace a medical induction, and it is never a reason to delay one.
Moxibustion for breech presentation is a warm, traditional technique held near a point on the little toe, usually from around 34–36 weeks. It's always done with your maternity team's knowledge, alongside their care, never instead of it.
Pregnancy asks a lot of a body. This is gentle, careful support — nothing heroic, just some relief and calm.

Good to know
Common questions
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Yes — I use pregnancy-safe points and a gentle approach, and everything is done alongside your midwife or obstetrician's care.
What is moxibustion for breech?
A warm herb (moxa) held near a point on the little toe — a traditional technique used to encourage a breech baby to turn, usually from around 34–36 weeks. It's done with your maternity team's knowledge.
When can I start?
Most stages are fine for the common aches; pre-birth work is for the final weeks. If you're unsure, ask your midwife or check with me first.
Does it help with morning sickness?
It's one of the most common reasons people come in early on, and I'll be honest with you about what it can and can't do. I can also leave press tacks in — small, painless studs taped to a point, which stay in between sessions.
Does it help with sleep and tension?
Many people find pregnancy acupuncture settling and calming — I'll be honest about what it can and can't do, and keep it gentle.
Can I claim it on private health?
Yes, where your extras cover acupuncture. HICAPS lets you claim on the spot and pay only the gap.
