What we treat · Anxiety & stress

Anxiety & stress, quietened.

That low hum of tension in the chest and shoulders, a mind that won't switch off, the feeling of running on empty. Acupuncture is calming almost by design — a quiet, grounding reset that works alongside your GP or psychologist, never instead of them.

Anxiety & stress

What helps

This is acupuncture's home ground — settling a nervous system that's stuck switched on. Some hands-on work helps release where you're holding it.

How I approach it

Settling a nervous system that's stuck on.

When you're anxious or run-down, your nervous system is stuck in a high-alert gear — shallow breath, tight shoulders, a racing mind. Acupuncture helps nudge it back toward rest.

Sessions are quiet and unhurried; most people find them deeply calming, and sleep often improves first. I'm clear about my lane: this is supportive care that sits alongside your GP, psychologist or medication — a complement, not a replacement. If something needs more, I'll say so.

You lie down, a few fine needles, and quiet. For a lot of people, that quiet is the whole point.

What we'd do

A calm, regular reset.

  1. We talk

How it's showing up, your sleep, and the care you already have.

  2. A gentle treatment

Calming points, and an unhurried session.

  3. Quiet

You rest with the needles in — drift off or chat, as you feel necessary.

  4. Alongside your care

Never instead of your GP or psychologist.

  5. A rhythm

Often a regular reset works better than a one-off.

Good to know

Common questions

Does acupuncture treat anxiety?

It's used as supportive, calming care — many people find it settling — but it's not a replacement for mental-health treatment. I work alongside your GP or psychologist, and I'll tell you honestly if you need more support than I can give.

Is it safe with my medication?

Yes — it's gentle and designed to sit alongside your medical care. Keep taking what your doctor's prescribed; acupuncture is a complement, not a substitute.

Will I feel something straight away?

Often a real sense of calm during and after the session, and better sleep early on. Lasting change usually builds over a few sessions.

Do I need a referral?

No — you can book directly.

Can I claim it on private health?

Yes, where your extras cover acupuncture. HICAPS lets you claim on the spot and pay only the gap.
